Our Clove Leaf Essential Oil, derived from Indonesia, undergoes Steam Distillation of the leaves of the Clove tree. The slender evergreen Clove tree, native to Indonesia and the Molucca Islands, stands up to 12 meters tall with a smooth gray trunk. This oil boasts a herbaceous, sharp, burnt-woody aroma, akin to Clove Bud Essential Oil but less spicy-sweet. With historical cultivation spanning over 2000 years, the original wild trees in the Moluccas are said to produce an oil without eugenol.

Usage Guidelines

  • Common Uses: Clove Leaf Essential Oil finds applications in Melt & Pour Soap, Cold Process Soap, Glycerin Soap, Candles, Bath Bombs, Bath Products, Skin Care Products, Hair Care Products, Home Cleaning Products, Incense, Potpourri, and diffusers.
  • Directions: For aromatherapy, add a few drops to a diffuser for a calming ambiance. In perfumery, blend with recommended oils for a personalized fragrance. When considering topical application, dilute properly to prevent skin irritation and enjoy the soothing properties.
  • Blends Well With: Cinnamon Bark, Nutmeg, Grapefruit, Lemon, Orange, Peppermint, Rose, Lavender, Clary Sage, and Ylang Ylang.
  • Precautions: Essential Oils are concentrated essences from plants and should always be diluted before application to the skin to avoid irritation. We do not promote or encourage the use of essential oils internally, but instead promote their usage more for their aromatic and topical benefits. use just a little

When you sniff this oil in the bottle, it's a smell with attitude, reminiscent of HP sauce or Worcestershire sauce. In the product (cold process soap in this case), it's a lot mellower, cloves with a leafy quality (imagine that). Two things should be noted. One: clove essential oils contain eugenol, which is recommended to be used in restricted amounts, so check the recommendations for the product you are making. Two: clove oils are reputed to accelerate trace, and it happened with my batch, so be prepared for that. Four stars just because of the bit of extra work and attention the product demands, and not because there is a problem with quality. ;)
