There is a smell to this preservative. I tried to use it in my coffee scrub and unfortunately it made it smell bad.
Happy to have a natural preservative but I just can't get over the smell, it's medicinal. I'll stick with Leucidal.
After the previous review, tried Geogard ECT in a body lotion. Some customers commented that they really liked the almond-ish scent. Also liked that an Ecocert preservative option was used.
I love this preservative; it's the only one I ever use. I am viciously allergic to phenoxyethanol, formaldehyde and isothiazolone- based preservatives, so it's a real challenge to find a good one, especially here in Canada. So I've been formulating with this preservative for about 3 years now (ALL my skin care products as well as quite a bit for other people, so not just "tried it once or twice"), and have ever once had anything go bad, even when it wasn't used right away. One precaution I do take is to use pumps or spray bottles; never anything that requires fingers to go into the product. But with that small bit of forethought everything's lasted very well.
I've seen comments on the smell: it has a mild almond-like aroma which is easily covered if necessary. Personally I love the smell so have never tried except when making fragranced items.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who's not sure.
