Bath Recipes
Bath Fizzers
- Our bath fizzer mix is a blend of citric acid, sodium bicarbonate, and cornstarch.
- Citric acid is an astringent, which helps to make skin tight, sodium bicarbonate is what makes the bomb fizz, and corn starch helps to create a smooth, hard bath fizzer.
- The witch hazel (because of its alcohol content) will allow the fizzer to release from the molds very quickly. Just using water as the moisturizing agent would have the fizzer take hours to release from the molds. Adding any oils or other moisturizers can also make the fizzer harder to release from the mold.
- Orris Root Powder is optional but will help keep your dry mix from hardening if storing the mix for any extended length of time. Also acts as a fragrance fixative.
2 Cups
Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda)
1 Cup
Citric Acid
½ Cup
Corn Starch
1 Tbsp
Orris Root Powder (Optional)
- Place desired amount of Bath Fizzer Mix into bowl.
- Add liquid F,D&C colorant or food colouring, drops at a time if desired to achieve colour.
- Add fragrance or essential oil, drops at a time to achieve desired fragrance level.
- Take the Witch Hazel and mist the mix once. Stirring vigorously with fork or fingers.
- Mist again with the witch hazel stirring well so that any colour or fragrance is well mixed.
- The goal is to have the mix very lightly moisturized so that it will bind together.
- When it feels like the mix will clump together - press the mix into the molds. You want the mix to get tightly packed into the molds so use your fingers. After waiting 15 seconds you should be able to flip the mold over and bang it lightly on a flat surface to extract the bath fizzer from the mold.
- After the bath fizzer is out of the mold then let it sit undisturbed for a couple of hours to fully dry.
- Other products like flower petals, herbs etc.can be pressed into the bath fizzers during step 7 if desired. Try wrapping the bath fizzers in tulle or a muslin bag to keep the botanicals from sitting at the bottom of the tub and going down the drain.
Bubbling Bath Fizzers
Try this twist on the Classic Bath Fizzers. We incorporate Jordapon Prill, a coconut based powder surfactant used in many bath products such as Bubbling Bath Fizzers, Bubble Bars and Foaming Milk Baths. By combining it with the Sodium Bicarbonate you not only have the fizz, you also have the foam!!
2 Cups
Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda)
1 Cup
Citric Acid
½ Cup
Jorapon Prill Powder Surfactant
Follow the same instructions as for making the traditional Bath Fizzer.

Lots of Bubbles Bubble Bath
Kids of all ages love Bubble Bath!! (we know you big kids love it too). Many commercial Bubble Baths use surfactants that contain Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, which can be very drying and irritating to many, especially young tender skin. Our Bubble Bath formulas incorporate a variety of our Coconut based surfactants that are SLS free along with Glycerin and Aloe to provide kids with a fun bubble bath without being drying to the skin.

Mix all ingredients together. Because all ingredients are liquid there is no need to use hot water so the preservative can be added at the same time as the other ingredients. Once everything is fully combined add fragrance and colour, if desired. (FD&anp;C liquid colours)
To thicken Bubble Bath add salt in small amounts, stirring to fully incorporate until the desired thickness is achieved.
If desired, you can also use Crothix to thicken at approx. 2% in replace of the equivalent amount of water. You would add this at the beginning to the surfactants, heating up the surfactants to melt in the Crothix. You would then need to wait to add the preservative until your bubble bath is cool.
Dispersing Aromatherapy Bath Oil
Bath oils are designed to soothe, soften and protect the skin. Our Dispersing Aromatherapy Bath Oil utilizes Polysorbate 80 as an oil dispersant, grabbing on to some of the individual oil molecules and carrying them throughout the bath water (proving more beneficial for the skin as contact isn’t just made on the water surface). To the bath oil blend you can add your choice of Essential Oils.

Skin Softening Bath Salts
At Voyageur one of our favorite Bath Salt blends is the simple combination of Fine Sea Salts and Mineral Salts that help to Soothe and Soften the skin all while enjoying a warm relaxing bath. Bath Salts are a very popular bathing additive that is surprisingly easy and inexpensive to make. To make your own bath salts you can choose any combination of salts or simply have one salt on its own. Give this recipe a try.
2 Cups
Fine Sea Salts
2 Cups
Epsom Mineral Salts
½ tsp.
powder colourant (or more)
Essential Oil or Fragrance Oil to Scent
Colouring your bath salts is easy with Ultramarine powder mineral colourants, Chromium Greens or FD&C Lakes. These types of powder colourants are not water soluble so they will colour your salts but not your skin or bath tub. When colouring salts simply add a small amount of colourant into your dry salts and stir. The colour will adhere to the salts with no liquid required.
When it comes to making bath salts there are several choices of salts and many different combinations depending on the look you want to achieve. Solar salts are often used on their own because of their large chunks but you can also combine the Coarse Sea Salts & Epsom salts or the Fine Sea Salts & Epsom Salts as we have above or any other combination you desire.
- You can colour your salts into separate batches and then layer your salts, package into cello bags, boxes or jars.
- You can also mix in dried florals for a pretty look.
- You can add grated Cocoa Butter or a small amount of liquid oils or Glycerin for added moisturizing benefits.
When scenting your bath salts you can choose either Essential Oils or Body Care Fragrance Oils. Both are concentrated so a small amount is all that is needed to give a nice fragrance.
