Detailed Instructions
Our Melt & Pour Glycerin Soap Bases are easy to use for all ages. Just melt in a double boiler or in the microwave, fragrance, colour and pour into molds to create beautiful, cost effective gift soaps. Unlike other melt and pour soaps on the market, ours has been formulated without Alcohol. Formulated using natural saponified vegetable oils, vegetable based glycerin, and vegetable based stearic acid it gives extreme clarity and consumer friendliness in a more natural format. Our Melt & Pour Glycerin soap base is available in Transparent, Super White, Goat’s Milk and Aloe Vera.
- Prepare your working surface and tools. You will require counter space to place your molds, a utensil for stirring your soap when melted and a double boiler style pot or microwave safe container for melting your soap in.
- Start melting your soap. Microwave on medium until fully melted, or melt in double boiler.
- Once melted, stir in desired fragrance and colour.
- You can colour your soap base with either the Melt & Pour dye pads, Clays, Ultramarine powder colourants, Chromium Green powder colourants or FD&C Lake powder colourants. Fragrance with either Bodycare Fragrance Oils or Essential Oils.
- Pour slowly into molds to avoid bubbles.
- If bubbles or foam forms at surface of mold, use a hair dryer to re-liquefy the surface of the soap and remove any bubbles.
- Let cool to touch then place in fridge or freezer for 5 minutes to help separate the soap from the mold. Remove from mold and its ready to use once fully hardened.
- Many different techniques may be incorporated to create soaps with critters inside, chunk soaps, swirled soaps etc… but as you can see from the directions above it is an extremely easy product to work with. We hope you enjoy the creative process and the eventual usage of the soaps you make.
Tips on Creative Issues
Our Melt & Pour Transparent Glycerin Soap Base has been designed for ease of use so that you can create wonderful soap products. Some tips for use are:
- Colour a bit of soap and pour a shallow layer into a flat-bottomed container, let harden and remove from container and cut into small chunks. Place these chunks in molds and pour a lighter shade or transparent soap over the chunks to create neat looks.
- Place small plastic creatures, hair clips, small toys etc… into or sticking out of the bars of soap to create fun soaps for kids.
- Pour coloured layers of soap into molds to create a neat layered effect. Pour each layer as soon as the layer beneath has crusted over, but before it is fully set up.
- Swirl a bright coloured soap into a lighter coloured soap by colouring a little bit a bright colour and just before set up stage, swirling a little bit of this cooled soap into your bar.
