Vanilla Oil
EO-VNLA-OIL-5ML
Our Vanilla Oil captures the warm, sweet, and comforting aroma of natural vanilla, offering a beautifully soft, creamy scent with the familiar richness and character of genuine vanilla. Containing approximately 5% naturally occurring vanillin, this aromatic ingredient provides a wonderful alternative to conventional vanilla fragrance oils, bringing the inviting sweetness of natural vanilla to a wide variety of handmade bath, body, and skincare creations.
Ideal for use in cold process soap, lotions, creams, bath bombs, bath salts, and other compatible cosmetic formulations, Vanilla Oil adds a delightful vanilla aroma to finished products. Its naturally sweet, comforting fragrance makes it a wonderful choice for creating handmade products with a classic vanilla scent.
Please Note: Due to its unique solubility characteristics, Vanilla Oil is not recommended for candles, wax melts, or oil-based anhydrous (water-free) products, as it may not incorporate evenly into these formulations.
Recommended Applications: Vanilla Oil is a natural aromatic ingredient containing approximately 5% naturally occurring vanillin, offering a warm, sweet vanilla aroma for a wide variety of bath, body, and skincare formulations. It is particularly well suited for cold process soap, melt and pour soap, lotions, creams, body butters, body washes, shower gels, bath bombs, bath salts, and other compatible cosmetic products. Its natural vanilla character makes it an excellent choice for adding a soft, comforting scent to finished formulations.
Incorporation & Formulation: Vanilla Oil incorporates well into emulsified formulations such as lotions and creams and can generally be added during the cool-down phase with thorough mixing to ensure even distribution. For liquid cleansing products and other water-based formulations, a suitable solubilizer may be required to achieve uniform dispersion and maintain product clarity. In bath bombs and bath salts, incorporate evenly throughout the mixture to ensure consistent fragrance distribution. Due to its solubility characteristics, Vanilla Oil is not recommended for candles, wax melts, body oils, oil-based perfumes, balms, or other oil-based anhydrous products where it may not disperse evenly.
Cold Process Soap Performance: Vanilla Oil can be incorporated into cold process soap to provide a natural vanilla scent. While we have found that it works well in our own soap formulations, performance can vary depending on the individual formula, ingredient combinations, and working temperatures. Some soap makers may experience accelerated trace, which can reduce the time available for pouring and creating detailed designs. Working at lower soap making temperatures can sometimes help slow trace and provide additional working time. We recommend conducting a small test batch when introducing Vanilla Oil into a new formula.
Vanillin Content & Discolouration: Containing approximately 5% naturally occurring vanillin, Vanilla Oil will cause cold process soap to gradually develop tan to brown shades as it cures and ages. The degree of discolouration will depend on the usage rate, individual formula, and storage conditions. Vanillin may also contribute to colour changes in melt and pour soap, lotions, creams, bath bombs, and other finished products over time. This is a natural characteristic of vanillin and should be considered when formulating products where maintaining a white or light colour is important.
Recommended Usage: Usage rates will vary depending on the finished product and desired fragrance intensity. Refer to the product's IFRA 51st Amendment documentation for the maximum allowable concentration in each applicable product category. IFRA maximum usage levels represent safety limits rather than recommended fragrance concentrations, and lower usage rates may provide the desired scent strength. Small-scale formulation testing is recommended to evaluate fragrance intensity, incorporation, discolouration, and finished-product stability.
