Whipped Body Butters!

You know a product is popular and versatile when an entire class can be dedicated to it! One of the most popular skin care products we teach in our classes are Whipped Body Butters; delectable, smooth and silky body creams that are ultra moisturizing for your skin. In this specialized class, Susan will teach students how to make a selection of different Whipped Body Butters using a variety of premium oils, butters, proteins, vitamins and emulsifiers. Students take home all products made in class as well as a detailed recipe and instruction package so that you can continue to make these products at home.

Susan Barclay Nichols is better known as SwiftCraftyMonkey, author of the blog, Point of Interest, and more than 30 e-books and e-zines, including Lotion Making 101, Formulating Lotions & Creams, Hair Care, Facial Products, and Back to Basics (anhydrous products). A failed batch of bath bombs during a youth group led to this life changing discovery where she fell in love with chemistry and making products at home. Not content to keep this information to herself, in 2009 Susan started her blog. 

She shares her passion for researching, formulating, and instructing by writing a monthly column for Handmade Magazine and teaching classes at Voyageur Soap & Candle. Although Susan claims to love all her ingredients equally, she admits to having a soft spot for cold process emulsifiers, conditioners, and surfactants. 

In her spare time, she runs a series of free youth programs called Rated T for Teen with her husband, Raymond, in her hometown of Chilliwack, B.C. funded by the sale of the e-books.

Bath Bombs are one of the most popular bath products on the market today but many don't realize how easy, economical and fun they are to make!  Come have some fun with Susan while she teaches you how to make Bath Bombs from scratch, using a variety of colours, scents and molds.  Each participant will take home all their decorative bath bombs made in class as well as a recipe guide so you can continue to make them again at home for your own enjoyment or gift giving.  These little treasures make great gifts for the upcoming holiday season!

Part II: The Art & Science of Blending Essential Oils with Amy Reedman RA® EOT®, Founder of The Blending Bar®

Dive in to the aromatic world and discover the biochemical makeup of 10 essential oils. Discover why it's important to learn the Latin name, the part of the plant is used to extract the oil, the therapeutic properties, and the contraindications (when not to use this oil).  Explore different dilutions and applications to use when blending for others, considering their health, age and general well-being. You’ll then get to create take-home blend of your choice: a calming blend, pain relief or an immune booster!

BEGINNERS COLD PROCESS SOAPMAKING

This is a great hands on, introductory class for anyone who has ever wanted to learn how to make Cold Process Soap.  Learn how to make soap the traditional, artisan way using pure vegetable oils, essential oils, clays, herbs, and mineral colourants. This class will teach you all the basic steps of cold process soap making, from weighing and measuring to colouring, scenting, bringing to trace, and using molds. 3 types of soap will be made: an ultra gentle Castile Lavender soap, a Clay and Shea Facial bar, and a Beeswax and Honey Exfoliating soap. You will take home all soaps made in class as well as an information and recipe package so you can continue your soap making at home!

Instructors: Edna & Mark Billesberger - Canuck Soap

Edna Billesberger is a Certified Soap Maker, owner and manager of Canuck Soap, a successful Canadian company specializing in premium bath and body products as well as natural soy candles.   After graduating from Kwantlen Polytechnic University with a Certificate of Nursing Unit Coordinator in 2000, Edna has enjoyed a successful career in several hospitals across the Lower Mainland. Having always loved sales and with a passion for health care, Edna decided to create her own business as she saw a great need for natural bath and body products that were non toxic and a pleasure to use. 

Mark Billesberger has been creating beautiful bath and body products since 2012.  He is owner and production manager of Canuck Soap, a successful Canadian company specializing in premium bath and body products as well as natural soy candles. After completing three years of electrical training at Kwantlen Polythechnic University, Mark decided to follow his entrepreneurial spirit and creative passion with Canuck Soap.  Mark enjoys the challenge of blending different essential oils and fragrances together to develop truly unique scents for his products.
