BEGINNERS COLD PROCESS SOAPMAKING

This is a great hands on, introductory class for anyone who has ever wanted to learn how to make Cold Process Soap.  Learn how to make soap the traditional, artisan way using pure vegetable oils, essential oils, clays, herbs, and mineral colourants. This class will teach you all the basic steps of cold process soap making, from weighing and measuring to colouring, scenting, bringing to trace, and using molds. 3 types of soap will be made: an ultra gentle Castile Lavender soap, a Clay and Shea Facial bar, and a Beeswax and Honey Exfoliating soap. You will take home all soaps made in class as well as an information and recipe package so you can continue your soap making at home!

Edna Billesberger is a Certified Soap Maker, owner and manager of Canuck Soap, a successful Canadian company specializing in premium bath and body products as well as natural soy candles.   After graduating from Kwantlen Polytechnic University with a Certificate of Nursing Unit Coordinator in 2000, Edna has enjoyed a successful career in several hospitals across the Lower Mainland. Having always loved sales and with a passion for health care, Edna decided to create her own business as she saw a great need for natural bath and body products that were non toxic and a pleasure to use. 

Mark Billesberger has been creating beautiful bath and body products since 2012.  He is owner and production manager of Canuck Soap, a successful Canadian company specializing in premium bath and body products as well as natural soy candles. After completing three years of electrical training at Kwantlen Polythechnic University, Mark decided to follow his entrepreneurial spirit and creative passion with Canuck Soap.  Mark enjoys the challenge of blending different essential oils and fragrances together to develop truly unique scents for his products.

ECO SKINCARE

One of the most rapidly growing changes in the skin care and cosmetics industry is the demand by consumers for more greener, plant based skin care products that don’t compromise on quality and effectiveness but are healthier for our bodies and the environment. During this class Susan will teach you to create natural skincare products using green, biodegradable, ECOcert ingredients, including botanical extracts, natural oils and butters. We’ll be making luscious body lotion bars, emollient body oils, exfoliating sugar scrub bars, and moisturizing creams using Ritamulse SCG to chase away winter skin woes. We’ll end the day blending essential oil rollers with all kinds of skin friendly oils for what ails you! And in addition, students will receive an extensive recipe and information package so you can continue to make these and other fabulous Eco Skincare products at home!

ECO FACIAL CARE

Due to the popularity of our Eco Skincare class, this new Eco Facial Care class focuses on specialty products specifically for the face using greener, plant based skin care ingredients that don’t compromise on quality and effectiveness but are healthier for our bodies and the environment. During this full day class, Susan will be teaching you how to make decadent facial products using natural oils, botanical extracts, and green, biodegradable, ECOcert emulsifiers and surfactants to make an ultra moisturizing facial serum, a vitamin packed targeted treatment, a hydrating botanical toner, a rich night cream, and a foaming facial cleanser. (As a bonus, learn how to use these products with sheet and dry clay masks.)

And in addition, students will receive an extensive recipe and information package so you can continue to make these and other fabulous Eco Facial Care products at home!

INTRO TO LOTION & CREAM MAKING

Based on the principles of Susan's E-Book Lotion Making 101, this part  day class gives students extensive knowledge and hands on experience on how to get started make their own creams and lotions at home. Students will be taught all about the different ingredients and will make a variety of creams and lotions in the class to take home. Students will also receive a copy of Susan's E-Book "Lotion Making 101" to take home at no extra charge. Perfect for those just starting out or the more experienced crafter that would like to gain more knowledge about the chemistry and specific benefits of ingredients.

In this hands-on class, we’ll be creating a gentle, no-rinse, cleansing micellar water; a biphasic make-up remover suitable for both water and oil based cosmetics; a vitamin B packed hydro-gel with niacinamide and panthenol; and a facial moisturizer with alpha-hydroxy acids, all of which you’ll be taking home in a gift box you’ve created yourself using our high end packaging . 

Each product will be customized to suit your skin type, from very dry to oily, and all participants will receive a package with these formulas so you can continue formulating at home.

In this intensive, hands-on class, we’ll be creating a liquid shampoo, liquid conditioner, leave in conditioner, and solid conditioner bar from scratch using moisturizing oils, mild surfactants, light conditioners, and other luxurious, colour safe, and sulphate free ingredients. 
You’ll learn how to customize the products for your hair type, scalp type, and condition as well as our humid climate, which can bring out the frizzies on even the sunniest day.

ALL THOSE BUBBLES! - Bubble Bath and Body Washes

Who doesn't love a bubble bath or a luxurious body wash.  These are some of the most popular bath products on the market today and in this hands-on class, you’ll be creating two body washes and a bubble bath suitable for all skin types from scratch using surfactants, thickeners, humectants, and other ingredients that increase mildness, foam, bubbles, and lather. You’ll learn how to combine different surfactants for different skin types to create hydrating, moisturizing, and cleansing products that won’t make your skin feel tight or dry after bathing. We’ll also be discussing the impact of fragrance and colour on the clarity and viscosity of these kinds of products.  Each student will be taking home all product they make in class as well as a recipe and information package so you can keep making these fabulous bath products at home!
