Part A – HEATED OIL PHASE
- 8.0% Ritamulse SCG Emulsifying Wax 88 grams
- 3.0% Cetyl Alcohol 33 grams
- 8.0% Apricot Kernel Oil 88 grams
- 5.0% Avocado Oil Refined 55 grams
- 3.0% Baobab Oil Organic 33 grams
- 2.0% Calendula Oil 22 grams
- 2.0% Fision EcoSil 22 grams
Part B – HEATED WATER PHASE
- 61.0% Distilled Water (Boiling Hot) 671 grams
- 2.0% Glycerin Vegetable Cosmetic 99.5% 22 grams
- 1.5% Geogard Ultra Preservative 16 grams
Part C – COOL DOWN PHASE
- 2.0% Bilberry Liquid Extract 22 grams
- 2.0% Panthenol Pro-Vitamin B5 22 grams
- 0.5% Fragrance or Essential Oil 6 grams (or as desired to scent level)
BEST PRACTICE HEAT & HOLD MANUFACTURING METHOD
- Weigh the Heated Water phase in a heatproof container and place into a double boiler.
- Weigh the Heated Oil phase in a heatproof container and place into a double boiler.
- Heat both phases until both reach 70˚C and hold at that temperature for 20 minutes.
- Remove from heat and combine the heated oil phase into the heated water phase. Mix until the emulsion has been formed and the product is a smooth consistency and no longer separating. You can whisk by hand, use an electric hand mixer, stand mixer or immersion blender.
- Once the emulsion has cooled to 45 ˚C add your Cool Down Phase and mix until fully incorporated.
- Continue to mix occasionally until product has cooled, then package into bottles.
- Formula makes approximately 4 x 8 oz Bottles.

EMULSIFIERS
RITAMULSE SCG – Ritamulse is an Eco-Cert emulsifier, viscosity enhancer and emulsion stabilizer for use in lotions and creams as well as other skin care products. The substantive properties of Ritamulse and water holding capabilities make it an excellent moisturizer, as well as being an exceptional humectant. Its mildness and low eye sting properties make it an excellent ingredient for facial care products.
CETYL ALCOHOL – Cetyl Alcohol is an emollient and emulsion stabilizer used widely to help hold fats and oils in creams and lotions and provide a glide to the skin feel of lotions and creams. Used in hair conditioners for detangling, building body, wet comb etc.

APRICOT KERNEL OIL - Apricot Kernel Oil is a rich oil that is packed with Vitamin A, Vitamin E and fatty acids. Apricot Kernel Oil has a lightweight consistency, making it a popular addition to creams, lotions, balms, soaps, massage oils, and skincare products.
AVOCADO OIL GOLDEN – Cold Expeller Pressed and Refined. Avocado Oil Refined (aka Golden) contains vitamins A, D, and E, amino acids, and lecithin. A popular oil in skin care as it moisturizes and softens skin, increases elasticity without leaving a greasy after-feel.
BAOBAB OIL ORGANIC - The baobab has been nicknamed the ‘superfruit’ due to its naturally occurring levels of essential fatty acids, including Omega-6 and Omega-3. It also contains high levels of stearols, antioxidants, vitamins A, E, D, F, and C.
CALENDULA OIL – High in essential fatty acids effective at reducing inflammation and improving epidermal differentiation. Calendula offers anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial, and antimicrobial properties, and can help speed wound healing. Infused in Sunflower Oil, which is rich in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids, Calendula Oil is a wonderful addition to your specialty creams, lotions, facial serums and more.
SPECIALTY INGREDIENTS & MOISTURIZERS
BILBERRY LIQUID EXTRACT - Bilberry Liquid Extract is a standardized blend of Bilberry Extract and Propanediol. A power packed berry for our skin, this liquid extract is standardized to possess 7.3% Anthocyanins, recognized as powerful antioxidants that can help shield the skin against free radical damage. Found Naturally in a variety of plants, fruits and vegetables, Anthhocyanins help to reduce the appearance of skin damage caused by oxidative stress and of improving skin elasticity as well as resiliency, which promotes the refreshing look of renewal. For cosmetic applications, Anthocyanins are ideal for haircare products as well as for face creams and lotions intended to promote the look and feel of rejuvenated skin.
*Propanediol is a plant based, biodegradable and petrochemical-free solvent that is becoming a popular corn sugar derived alternative to petroleum-based Glycols in personal care formulations. Propanediol has a skin-friendly performance as it provides enhanced moisturization, improved emollience and enhanced viscosity, as well as anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and non-irritating properties to formulations.
GLYCERIN VEGETABLE COSMETIC 99.5% - Glycerin is a vegetable derived humectant and moisturizer which attracts and absorbs water molecules helping to draw and retain moisture to the skin. A natural water-soluble moisturizer used extensively in personal care products such as lotions, creams, facial toners, cleansers, and haircare products.
DL-PANTHENOL PRO-VITAMIN B5 - Widely used in skin and hair care products for its moisturizing, protectant, and healing properties. Used in shampoos & conditioners at .1%-.5% to help retain moisture in the hair and protect the hair from the elements. Used in lotions & creams at up to 3% to help moisturize and repair dry, damaged skin.
FISION ECOSIL - Natural Olive Oil Derived Silicone Alternative for Hair and Skin Care
An excellent naturally derived botanical alternative to silicone that improves formula aesthetics to improve greasiness and after feel. As an advantage, Fision® EcoSil is compatible with oily ingredients for a better solubility profile and is derived from olives which contain nourishing phytocompounds to support healthy skin and hair. Can be used to replace Dimethicone and Cyclomethicone in Hair and Skin Care Formulas. This ingredient delivers very similar sensory performance to dimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane (D5) and cylohexasiloxane (D6) and leaves skin feeling smooth and moisturized. It has also been shown to improve hair manageability and shine. It is Naturally derived from Olive Oil Esters and Olive Oil Unsaponifiables so it has a very Eco Friendly profile and INCI name.
Unlike traditional silicones like Dimethicone and Cyclomethicone, Fision® EcoSil is soluble in a wide range of natural oils and ingredients and unlike silicones is soft and light with a dry after feel while leaving hair and skin feeling smooth and moisturized so it provides an expanded opportunity for use in a large number of Skin and Hair Care Products. In Skin care is being used in premium Anti-Aging Creams, Daily Creams and Lotions, Night Creams, Eye and Facial Serum, Foundations and Men's skin care products. In Hair Care it can be effectively used in Professional Shampoos, Conditioners, Serums, Hair Repair Products, Styling Products and Beard Serums and Balms.
PRESERVATIVE
GEOGARD ULTRA - Geogard Ultra is a unique preservative that features a synergistic blend of Gluconolactone and Sodium Benzoate. This combination offers broad spectrum protection while also acting as an efficient 'preservative booster' due to the slow release of Gluconic Acid over time.
Geogard Ultra is ECOCERT certified, possessing an exceptional toxicity profile while also being non-sensitizing, non-irritating and provides added skin moisture benefit to products. The Gluconolactone in Geogard Ultra is a gluten-free fermented food starch derived from Non-GMO corn via a fermentation process with Non GMO microorganisms. Gluconolactone is generally considered suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin, and is non-irritating and antioxidant. Effective in products with a pH of 3 to 6 and can be added at both room and elevated temperatures. Usage Rate 0.75% - 2.0%
