You’ll Need:
- 220g GW 494 wax
- 22g of your favourite holiday fragrance or essential oil (10%)
Optional extras:
-
dried flowers, glitter, mica, crystals, candle dye, little decorations
Recommended Utensils:
- Silicone wax tablet mold (6 cavities, ~36g each)
- Double boiler or wax melter
- Thermometer
- Scale
- Aluminum Pouring Pot 1 lb
- Stirring utensil
- Holiday themed temporary tattoos
- Holiday Ribbon
Steps to Make Your Wax Tablets:
-
Step 1: Carefully melt the wax in a double boiler until it’s about 75°C (167°F). Stir slowly and gently.
⚠️ Important: The wax gets very hot! Younger kids should have an adult supervisor to help with this step so no one gets burned
- Step 2: Let the wax cool a bit to 60–65°C (140–149°F). Then add your fragrance or essential oil. If you want to color the wax, add your dye now. Stir for 1 minute until everything looks mixed in.
- Step 3: Pour the wax into the mold cavities.
- Step 4: Leave the wax tablets alone for 1–2 hours until they are completely hard.
- Step 5: Leave the wax smooth and fully set. Once solid, place a temporary tattoo on the wax for a fun final touch. Then carefully pop them out of the mold.
- Step 6: Thread a ribbon or string through the hole in the tablet so you can hang it in your closet, drawer, or anywhere you want a nice holiday scent!
Extra Tips:
The scent will be good to use in 24–48 hours, but it gets stronger if you let it “cure” for 5–10 days.
Store your tablets in a box away from sunlight for the best fragrance.
Wax tablets usually smell nice for 4–6 weeks. Keep them in drawers, closets, or small spaces to make the scent last longer.
How to Use Them:
Hang or place your wax tablets in small spaces like closets, drawers, or cupboards. They smell amazing and are a pretty, handmade alternative to air fresheners.
Safety First:
- Don’t melt, burn, or put these in a wax warmer—they are for scenting only.
- The wax gets very hot, so always have an adult help younger kids.
- Keep away from young kids and pets.
- Don’t leave them in hot places like cars or near heaters or sunlight, or the wax might soften.
