Directions:
- Step 1: Prepare your space by gathering all your tools and ingredients. Remember to wear long sleeves, gloves, and eye protection to keep yourself safe and comfortable. Place all the oils in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave using short intervals, stirring each time, until fully melted. Avoid overheating to maintain quality.
- Step 2: Measure the distilled water, then slowly stir in the lye. Always add the Lye to the water and never Water to Lye. Be aware that this mixture will rapidly heat up, reaching high temperatures. Handle with care and ensure you're working in a safe environment. To speed things up, place the lye water in a cold water bath. Aim for both the lye solution and the oils in the large bowl to reach around 120°F.
- Step 3: Gently warm your oils in the microwave until they reach 120°F. While doing so, allow the lye water to cool. Keep an eye on both temperatures, ensuring they align perfectly for your next step.
- Step 4: To prepare your colorants, measure out a small amount of Avocado Oil into five separate measuring cups. Then, add your colorants to each cup, mixing gently until well combined. This process ensures even distribution and vibrant colors in your final product.
- Step 5: Once both the oils and lye water reach 120°F, gently pour the lye water into the oils while whisking steadily. Alternate between using a stick blender and a whisk, but avoid blending continuously for more than 30 seconds at a time. As you continue, you'll notice the soap batter thickening, eventually showing a light trace—those delicate lines on the surface as you move it.
- Step 6: When you reach a light trace, the mixture is ready, and you can set the stick blender aside.
- Step 7: Gently pour 50g of Red Cedarwood Fragrance into the soap batter. Stir thoroughly to ensure the scent is evenly distributed
- Step 8: Gently pour about 50g of your fully mixed soap batter into each measuring cup with the colorants and avocado oil, leaving out the charcoal for now. Mix thoroughly. If the colors aren't quite right, feel free to add a touch more until you're happy with the results.
- Step 9: Pour the charcoal and avocado oil blend into the soap batter, mixing thoroughly. For a deeper color, gradually mix in more charcoal powder until you achieve the desired intensity.
- Step 10: When you're satisfied with your colors, carefully pour a layer of black soap into your loaf mold.
- Step 11: To make the colorful layer, start by pouring the white soap batter into a clean measuring cup, followed by the pink, purple, and finally, the blue. Let each color flow gently into the cup, using the spout to control the pour. Add only a small amount at a time, repeating until all the soap batter is combined in the cup.
- Step 12: Using a clean spatula, gently pour the layered color soap over the black layer in the loaf mold.
- Step 13: If the colored soap doesn't completely coat the black layer, gently tilt the mold to guide the soap down.
- Step 14: Gently pour the remaining black soap over the colored layer, using a clean spatula. Keep the pour close to avoid blending into the layer below.
- Step 15: We gently shaped the top with a small, clean whisk, but a spoon or spatula works just as well.
- Step 16: If you have a bit of colored soap leftover, you can use a popsicle stick to drizzle a few drops onto the soap's surface. Take a skewer and gently pull through the colorful drops to create lovely swirls. For a touch of sparkle, add a sprinkle of Holo Silver Bio Glitter Pure if you have it.
- Step 17: Gently position your Spaceship embeds about 1.5 inches apart on the soap's surface. Lightly spritz the top with Isopropyl Alcohol to ward off Soda Ash. Then, place the soap under a tall cardboard box and cover it with towels. This warmth encourages the Gel Phase, enhancing the vibrancy of the colors.
- Step 18: After 24 hours, your soap should be ready to cut. Don't let it sit too long, or it might become too hard to handle. Once cut, let your soap cure for 4 to 5 weeks. This allows it to harden as the water evaporates.
Tips:
