Recommended Ingredients:
(yields approx. 8 Bubble Scoops)
Dry Ingredients:
- 200g Baking Soda
- 50g Cream of Tartar
- 100g Lathanol
- 30g Cornstarch
Wet Ingredients:
- 20g Shea Butter
- 5g Polysorbate 80
- 15g Glycerin
- 40g Cocamidopropyl Betaine Surfactant
- 10g Satsuma Fragrance
- 5x scoops of Sunset Orange Mica
- 3x Gold Shimmer Mica
Recommended Utensils:
- 2 Mixing Bowls
- 2 Glass Measuring Cups
- 1x 0.15cc Plastic Scoop (for mica)
- Stainless Steel Ice Cream Scoop (with trigger)
- Baking Sheet
- Scale
- Sifter
- Stirring Stick
- Gloves
- Face Mask (highly recommended when handling powders)
Directions:
- Step 1: In a well-ventilated space (wear a face mask), sift together the baking soda, cream of tartar, and cornstarch into a mixing bowl. Add the Lathanol last (do not sift it as it will become airborne ), and gently mix all dry ingredients together until uniform.
- Step 2: In a glass measuring cup, combine the polysorbate 80, glycerin, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, and Satsuma fragrance oil. Stir well to blend.
- Step 3: Pour the wet mixture into the bowl of dry ingredients and begin mixing thoroughly using gloved hands or a spatula. The mixture will start to resemble damp sand.
- Step 4: Gently melt the shea butter in a separate measuring cup using a microwave or double boiler. Once just melted, pour it into the bowl and knead everything together until you have a soft, moldable dough—similar to playdough in texture. Add a little more glycerin if the mix feels too dry.
- Step 5: Divide the dough into two equal portions: To one half, add the Sunset Orange mica. To the other, add the Gold Shimmer mica. Mix each portion thoroughly until the color is fully incorporated.
-
Step 6: Using your ice cream scoop, add some orange dough to the bottom and then fill the rest with gold shimmer dough. Press firmly into the scoop and release onto a baking sheet. Repeat until all the dough is used up.
- Step 7: Allow the scoops to air dry for at least 24 hours. Once fully hardened, package them in a container or wrap to keep out moisture.
Usage:
Fill your tub with warm water. Use one full scoop or break off a portion and crumble it under running water. For best results, agitate the water to help create luxurious, long-lasting bubbles.
Storage & Safety:
Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and humidity.
Not edible! Store away from pets and children due to appearance and scent.
Troubleshooting Your Bubble Scoops
Scoop not holding its shape?
-
Be sure to press the mixture firmly into the scoop. A light pack won’t hold together.
Scoops crumbling after release?
-
If some scoops are turning out fine but others fall apart, your mix may have started drying out. Add a small amount of glycerin and knead until the texture becomes pliable and cohesive again.
Scoops sticking to the scoop?
- A sticky mixture usually means it's too wet. Add a little extra baking soda to rebalance the texture and reduce stickiness.
