- small Whisk
- Scale
- Spatula
- Large bowl
- Gloves

-
2x Thermometers
Directions:
- Step 1: Prepare Lye Solution. Weigh out distilled water. Slowly add lye to the water (never the other way around). Stir carefully until dissolved. Place a thermometer in the solution to monitor temperature. Optional: To speed up cooling, place the lye solution cup into a bowl of cold water.
- Step 2: Prepare Oils & Butters. Weigh coconut oil, avocado oil, shea butter, and castor oil. Mix coconut milk powder directly into the oils—this prevents scorching and makes blending easier. Melt the oils and butters in the microwave in short bursts, stirring in between. Aim for both the lye solution and oils to reach approximately 120 °F (49 °C).
-
Step 3: Combine Lye & Oils. Pour the lye solution into the melted oils & butters. Whisk by hand briefly, then blend with an immersion blender for ~15 to 20 seconds. Switch back to whisking until the soap begins to change color.
- Step 4: Add Color & Fragrance. Disperse Rocky Mountain mica in a splash of castor oil. Mix into soap batter until uniform. When the soap reaches light trace, add West Coast essential oil blend. Mix again.
- Step 5: Incorporate Salt. Add the fine sea salt and mix thoroughly. Have mold, spatula, and optional toppings ready—soap will set quickly.
- Step 6: Pour & Decorate. Pour the soap into your prepared mold, scraping all remaining soap into it. Use a spoon or spatula to create designs on top as desired. Sprinkle extra sea salt and Red Clover flowers (optional). Lightly spray with isopropyl alcohol to prevent soda ash. Optional: Cover the soap with a cardboard box and towels to trap heat and encourage gel phase. This can make colors more vibrant, but may slightly scorch the coconut milk powder.
- Step 7: Monitor & Unmold. Check the soap every 30 minutes. After 3–3.5 hours, if the mold pulls away easily from the sides, the soap is ready to unmold. If needed, wait another 30min. Don’t wait too long—overly firm soap can crumble when cut. Gently remove from the mold and cut into bars of equal size.
- Step 8: Cure. Place bars on a well-ventilated shelf. Allow to cure for 5 weeks. The curing process lets excess water evaporate, hardens the soap, and develops a long-lasting lather.
Usage:
Wet your hands or washcloth, lather the soap, and apply to skin.Rinse thoroughly.
Enjoy the gentle exfoliation and skin-softening benefits of salt + nourishing oils.
Warnings & Safety:
For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Test a small patch of skin first to check for irritation. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Always wear protective gear when handling lye. Store soap in a cool, dry place once cured.
