What You’ll Need:
Tools you will need:
- Mixing bowl
-
Gloves (to keep hands clean)
- Small sifter (to sift dry ingredients)
- Spoon
- Scale
- Shower Steamer Shampoo Bar ROUND - 3D Printed Bath Bomb Mold
- Spray bottle filled with water or witch hazel
- Optional: Mask (if you don’t like dust from powders)
Shower Steamer Base:
Recommended Ingredients:
- 180g Baking Soda
- 80g Citric Acid
- 20g Cornstarch
- 10g Kaolin Clay
- 2g Cream Soda Fragrance Oil
- Optional: 2g Polysorbate 80 (only if you want to add color)
Directions:
- Step 1: Get Ready
- Wash your hands and put on gloves (and mask if you want). This helps keep everything clean and safe!
- Step 2: Mix Dry Ingredients:
- Use the sifter to sift baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, and kaolin clay into your mixing bowl. Sifting helps make your shower steamers smooth and less dusty.
- Step 3: Add Polysorbate 80 (Optional):
- If you want to add color to your steamers later, mix in 2g of Polysorbate 80 now. Otherwise, skip this step.
- Step 4: Add Fragrance:
- Pour in the 2g of Cream Soda Fragrance Oil. Use the spoon to mix everything really well so the scent is spread evenly.
- Step 5: Spray Water or Witch Hazel:
- Using the spray bottle, if needed, lightly mist the mixture with water or witch hazel — just a little at a time! Keep mixing after each spray. The mixture should feel like damp sand that holds together when you squeeze it.
- Step 6: Pack into Mold:
-
Put the outer sleeve on a flat table. Slide the bottom half of the mold inside the sleeve.
Spoon your bath bomb mixture into the mold, filling it to the top of the sleeve. Don’t pack it too tight — just level it off.
- Step 7: Press the Mold:
- Put the top half of the mold into the sleeve on top of the mixture. Press down firmly to squish both halves together. Tap the sides of the sleeve with the back or side of a spoon to help release it. Gently wiggle the sleeve up and down to loosen the Shower Steamer.
- Step 8: Remove the Bath Bomb:
-
Use your finger to smooth the edges of the Shower Steamer ring. Hold the mold steady and gently tap the top half with a spoon to break the suction.Pull the top half of the mold diagonally up and off. Carefully flip the Shower Steamer upside down onto a drying tray. Repeat tapping and pulling to remove the bottom half of the mold.
- Step 9: Dry & Store:
- Place your finished shower steamer on a flat surface (like cardboard) and let it dry for 24 hours before packing or using
Fun Ideas & Inspiration:
- Try making other fun scents like lemon, lavender, or peppermint.
- Add a little mica powder for bright colors!
- Gift your homemade steamers to friends and family as a surprise treat!
-
Make a shower steamer party with friends and swap different scents.
Extra Fun Decoration (Optional!):
Once your shower steamers are fully dry, you can decorate them with mica paint! This is made by mixing bath-safe mica powder with a little isopropyl alcohol to make colorful, safe-to-use paint.
This step is optional but super fun and makes your shower steamers look awesome!
Remember: Use only bath-safe mica powders and isopropyl alcohol for painting — other paints aren’t safe to use on products that go in the shower.
How to Use:
Place one steamer on the floor of your shower (but away from the direct water spray). When the water hits it, it will fizz and release a yummy cream soda scent to make your shower fun and refreshing!
Warning & Tips:
- Keep dry: Store your steamers in a dry place so they don’t start fizzing before you use them.
- Use gloves: When making steamers, gloves help protect your skin from the powders.
- Spray lightly: Too much water will make your mixture fizz too early! Spray just a little bit at a time.
- Ask for help: If you’re unsure or using new tools, ask a grown-up to help you.
- Be careful: Don’t eat your shower steamers! They are for smelling and shower fun only.
