  • Double boiler or a heatproof bowl and a pot

  • Kitchen scale

  • Strainer or cheesecloth

  • Spatula

  • Whisk (manual and electric)

  • Measuring spoons

  • Clean jar for storage

Directions:

Step 1:

Prepare the Double Boiler

  • Fill the bottom pot of your double boiler with water and bring it to a simmer.

  • Place the upper pot or heatproof bowl on top

Step 2:

Melt the Tallow

  • Weigh out 220g of tallow using the kitchen scale.

  • Add the tallow to the top pot or bowl of the double boiler and let it melt completely, stirring occasionally.

Step 3:

 Infuse with Flowers (Optional)

  • If you wish to infuse your cream with flowers, add a few dried blossoms to the melted tallow.

  • Gently heat for about 1 hour, allowing the oils to absorb the properties of the flowers.

  • Once done, strain the mixture using a strainer or cheesecloth, pressing with a spatula to extract all the oils from the flowers.

Step 4:

 Combine Ingredients

  • Add 27g of olive oil to the melted tallow.

  • Add 15 drops of your chosen essential oil.

  • Incorporate 2 drops of Vitamin E T-50 for added skin benefits.

  • Mix in 5g of golden jojoba oil.

Step 5:

 Whisk the Mixture

  • Use a whisk to combine all ingredients thoroughly.

  • Allow the mixture to cool slightly.

  • Once it begins to thicken, use an electric whisk to whip the mixture until it becomes light and fluffy.

Step 6:

 Store the Cream

  • Carefully fill a clean jar with the whipped tallow cream.

  • Let it cool completely before sealing the jar.

Your homemade tallow cream is now ready to use, providing a nourishing, natural skincare option. Enjoy the process of making it and the benefits it brings to your skin!

Tip:

To ensure the longevity of your tallow cream, consider adding a natural preservative like rosemary extract or grapefruit seed extract. These options can help prevent microbial growth and extend the shelf life of your product. Adding about 0.5% of the total weight of your cream should be sufficient. For example, if your total cream weight is around 270g, add approximately 1.35g of your chosen preservative.
