Aloe Vera Gel is a 100% (1:1) pure Aloe Vera extracted into a gel base for easy use in all your water soluble skin care products such as lotions, creams, body sprays and hair care products, or applied directly onto the skin for helping soothe sunburns and other minor skin irritations. Aloe Vera has been used for centuries for its skin soothing and moisturizing properties as it is reputed as being naturally rich in protein, calcium, magnesium, zinc, vitamins A, B12, C and E, essential fatty acids as well as amino acids and skin rejuvenating enzymes.

Formaldehyde releasing preservative is a no-go

Tried this product a couple of years back, not realizing the preservative in it releases formaldehyde, which is absolutely unacceptable given what we now know about these types of preservatives & their effects on our bodies. There are much better options on the market now in terms of innovative preservatives, but sadly I see this product still contains this ingredient, as does Voyageur's plain aloe gel base. Was hoping there would be an update in the formula by now but no, so I won't be buying it again. What I have remaining is going in the garbage, unfortunately.

With something like Leucidal SF Max & AMTicide Coconut in here together used as preservatives, Leucidal being a nice boost to the skin as well, this could be a really nice product as it glides smoothly over the skin & leaves zero sticky residue.

Voyageur, please update this product with safer, readily available preservative options. I am now looking for an alternative aloe base elsewhere for my after-sun gel :-(

Check the base ingredients

If you're using this as an after-sun care product, like I normally use aloe vera gel, this one is not the way to go. I didn't check the ingredients of the "base" before purchasing this and mistakenly thought it was purely 100% aloe vera gel. It's not! I find the Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate very irritating and drying to my skin, hence irritating further my sunburn. Just to be aware of! I'm sure it has a great consistency in creating products (haven't tried yet). But I don't find this product to be adequately of therapeutic grade.

A must have beautiful ingredient...

Use this gel with the Isopropyl Alcohol 99% to create hand sanitizer for friends and family. Love that it already has preservative. Received a lot of compliments about how better my hand sanitizer was compared to store bought ones. The end product was smooth, hydrating, didn't leave white residue and was non-drying and non-irritating. Thanks VG for another amazing, natural product!
