Shea Butter Refined
BTR-SHEA-REF-57G
Shea Butter is a rich, creamy butter extracted from the nuts of the Karité tree and is prized for its exceptional moisturizing and skin-soothing properties. Our Refined Shea Butter has been carefully filtered and deodorized to produce a smooth, off-white butter with a soft texture and minimal scent—ideal for skincare and haircare formulations where you want all the benefits without the natural nutty aroma. Rich in fatty acids and emollients, Shea Butter helps nourish and protect the skin, making it a staple in lotions, creams, lip balms, salves, soaps and hair treatments.
Loved for its versatility, Shea Butter delivers lasting hydration while helping to support skin elasticity and softness. It blends well with oils, butters, and waxes to create stable, emollient-rich formulations suitable for a wide range of personal care applications.
Recommended Usage Rates
These are general guidelines, and actual usage rates may vary depending on your specific formula and desired texture. We recommend creating small test batches to ensure the final product meets your expectations.
- Lotions & Creams: 3-10%
Adds richness, softens dry skin, and enhances the emollient profile.
Often used alongside lighter oils or butters for a balanced feel. - Body Butters: 10–25%
Provides a smooth, creamy texture and long-lasting moisture. Can be used at higher levels for a deeply nourishing formula. - Lip Balms and Lipsticks: 5–15%
Helps condition and protect lips with a soft, buttery finish. Blends well with waxes and oils for a balanced balm. - Lotion Bars & Solid Balms: 10–30%
Adds body and glide while locking in moisture. Works well with cocoa or kokum butter to add firmness. - Cold Process Soaps: 5–15% of total oils
Adds conditioning properties and a creamy lather. High levels can affect bar hardness, so best balanced with hard oils like coconut or palm. - Whipped Body Butters: 10–20%
Forms the base of many whipped butters due to its softness and easy whip-ability. Often paired with lightweight oils for better absorption. - Hair Conditioners & Masks: 2-5%
Softens, protects, and tames frizz in both rinse-off and leave-in hair products without making hair greasy.
INCI: Butyrospermum parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit
Country of Origin: France
CAS # : 68424-60-2
Melting Point: 89°F - 113°F
Processing: Refined
Shelf Life: Shea Butter should be stored in a sealed, airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture, to maintain its quality and extend its shelf life. Ideal storage temperatures are between 15°C and 25°C (59°F to 77°F). Exposure to heat can cause the butter to melt and then re-solidify, which may result in a grainy texture. If this occurs, simply melt the butter gently, stir thoroughly, and allow it to solidify again in a cool environment. With proper storage, refined Shea Butter typically has a shelf life of up to three years.
