French Pink Clay
CL-FR-PNK-908G
French Pink Clay, also referred to as Rose Kaolin Clay, is a naturally gentle clay blend composed of White Kaolin Clay and Red Kaolin Clay. The soft pink colour comes from the naturally occurring iron oxides present in the red kaolin component, rather than from added dyes or synthetic colourants. This combination results in a mild, finely textured clay that offers balanced cleansing and light oil absorption without being overly drying.
Because both white and red kaolin clays are among the gentlest mineral clays available, French Pink Clay is well suited for dry, sensitive, or mature skin types. It helps cleanse the skin by drawing out surface impurities while maintaining a softer feel compared to more absorbent clays such as bentonite or green clay.
In formulations, French Pink Clay is commonly used in facial masks, soaps, cleansers, body treatments, dry powders, and cosmetic applications where a gentle clay with light colour is desired. It can also be used to impart a natural pale pink tone to cold process soap, masks, and powders without the need for additional colourants.

French Pink Clay (Rose Kaolin Clay) can be incorporated into a wide range of personal care formulations. For facial or body masks, mix the clay with water, floral water, or another suitable liquid phase to form a smooth paste and apply to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Allow to partially dry, then rinse thoroughly.
In soap making, the clay may be dispersed in water or oil before adding to the batch to improve colour distribution and reduce clumping.
It can also be added to dry formulations such as body powders or used as a natural colourant in masks, cleansers, and other cosmetic products.
Typical usage rates range from low percentages for colour and texture to higher levels in mask formulations, depending on the desired effect. P
Recommended Usage Rates
Cold Process Soap
Use at 0.5–2% of total oil weight. Lower levels provide a soft pastel pink tone, while higher levels give more visible colour and a slightly silkier slip. Disperse the clay in water or oil before adding to the soap batter to help prevent clumping and ensure even distribution.
Melt & Pour Soap
Use at 0.25–1% of total soap base weight. Pre-disperse in a small amount of alcohol or glycerin before mixing into melted soap to maintain clarity and prevent speckling.
Facial Masks (Rinse-Off)
Use at 20–60% of the total formula, depending on the desired thickness and absorbency. French Pink Clay is gentle and well suited for dry or sensitive skin mask formulations. Combine with water, hydrosols, or other liquid ingredients to form a smooth paste.
Facial Cleansers (Rinse-Off)
Use at 1–5%. At these levels, the clay provides gentle cleansing and mild oil absorption without excessive dryness.
Body Wraps & Spa Treatments
Use at 30–70%, typically blended with water or botanical liquids to achieve the desired consistency for application.
Body Powders & Dry Mask Blends
Use at 5–100%, depending on whether the clay is being used as a functional ingredient or as the primary base.
