- Cold Process Soap: Pre-disperse Crimson Heart Mica in a small amount of liquid oil or water before adding to soap batter. Blend thoroughly for even colour distribution.
- Melt & Pour Soap: Pre-disperse Crimson Heart Mica in a small amount of liquid glycerin before incorporating into melted soap base. Stir thoroughly to distribute the pigment evenly and prevent clumping. Alternatively, mica can be added directly to melted soap with thorough mixing. Transparent soap bases showcase the shimmer more prominently, while opaque bases produce a softer, more muted appearance.
- Lotions & Creams: Pre-disperse in a small amount of suitable liquid oil or glycerin before incorporating into your formulation to avoid clumping. Mix thoroughly to distribute the pigment evenly.
- Body Butters & Balms: Blend into a small amount of melted oils or butters before incorporating into the remaining formulation. Stir thoroughly for even colour and shimmer distribution.
- Bath Salts: For more even colour distribution, pre-mix Crimson Heart Mica with a small amount of Polysorbate 80 before incorporating into your bath salts. Polysorbate 80 helps disperse the mica throughout the bathwater, reducing the likelihood of pigment residue or staining on bathtub surfaces.
- Bath Bombs: Pre-mix Crimson Heart Mica with Polysorbate 80 before incorporating into your bath bomb formulation. Polysorbate 80 helps disperse the pigment evenly in bathwater and minimizes the potential for colour residue on the bathtub.
- Decorative Soap Finishes: Lightly dust mica onto soap surfaces to create shimmering accents and decorative details. For mica painting techniques, mix with a small amount of Isopropyl Alcohol to create a smooth, paint-like consistency, then apply using a fine paintbrush to create intricate designs and decorative finishes.
- Usage Rate: Start with approximately ¼–½ teaspoon per pound (454 g) of soapmaking oils for soap applications, adjusting as needed to achieve the desired colour intensity. For other formulations, begin with a small amount and adjust based on the desired effect and applicable cosmetic colourant restrictions.
- Colour Results: Produces rich wine-red and crimson tones with a shimmering finish. Colour intensity and shimmer visibility will vary depending on concentration, formulation, and the opacity of the finished product.
- Important: Crimson Heart Mica is insoluble in water and oil but can be dispersed in both. When using in bath products, pre-mixing with Polysorbate 80 can improve pigment dispersion throughout the bathwater and help minimize colour residue on bathtub surfaces. Always test in small batches to confirm colour stability and performance in your finished formulation.

Benefits of Synthetic Fluorphlogopite
Synthetic Fluorphlogopite offers the beauty and shimmer of traditional mica with the added benefits of a carefully controlled manufacturing process. Unlike naturally mined mica, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite is manufactured to achieve high purity, consistency, and uniformity, helping to minimize naturally occurring impurities and deliver reliable colour and shimmer from batch to batch. Its smooth, reflective particles create a brilliant pearlescent effect that enhances the appearance of finished products.
Synthetic Fluorphlogopite also provides an alternative to naturally mined mica, avoiding the mining-related environmental and ethical sourcing concerns sometimes associated with traditional mica production.
