Potassium Sorbate is a widely used food preservative that is gaining popularity in natural cosmetic products. Potassium Sorbate is the natural potassium salt of sorbic acid, which when dissolved in water based products is effective against yeast, mold and select bacteria. While Potassium Sorbate has shown to be an effective preservative in a wide range of personal care products, it is not on its own a full spectrum preservative and should be used in conjunction with other preservatives.

Easy to use and stable

I have been using this coupled with sodium benzoate in my cleaning products for years and I have never had an issue with any of the products. Be aware that this does give distilled water a slight yellowish brown tinge, doesn't matter for cleaning products but you may notice it if you are making a clear gel, it's just a slight discolouration. Also be aware that it doesn't like extreme ph's so add it at the point when the ph is neutral.
