Recommended Usage: Add Jewel Tone Liquid Colourant a few drops at a time, mixing thoroughly until the desired shade is achieved. These ready-to-use liquid colourants are less concentrated than our concentrated liquid dyes, allowing for easy colour adjustments and greater control over the final shade.

Suitable Applications: Ideal for colouring melt & pour soap, shampoos, body washes, bubble baths, liquid hand soaps, bath bombs, bath salts, lotions, creams, and other water-based or emulsion-based formulations.

Incorporation: Shake well before use. Add directly to melted soap bases, liquid surfactant formulations, or the water phase of lotions and creams, mixing thoroughly to distribute the colour evenly. For bath bombs and bath salts, add sparingly and mix thoroughly to achieve even colour distribution. Since these colourants contain water and glycerin, excessive amounts may cause premature fizzing in bath bombs or clumping in dry formulations. For more vibrant colours requiring larger amounts of colourant, consider using our Jewel Tone Liquid Colour Concentrates to minimize the amount of additional moisture introduced.

Colour Adjustment: Begin with a small amount and gradually increase until the desired colour intensity is reached. The final shade will depend on the amount used and the natural colour and opacity of the base. Colours will generally appear brighter in clear bases and softer or more pastel in opaque white bases.

Solubility: Jewel Tone Liquid Colourants are completely water soluble and are not suitable for colouring oils, waxes, candles, or other anhydrous products.

Colour Stability: As water-soluble dyes, these colourants may migrate or bleed between colours in layered or multicoloured melt & pour soap designs. They are not recommended for cold process soap due to the potential for colour changes or instability in high-pH environments.

Testing: Always conduct a small test batch to evaluate colour intensity, compatibility, and stability in your finished formula. Some formulations may experience colour changes or fading depending on their pH, ingredients, and storage conditions.

INCI: Water, Glycerin, CI42090 (FD&C Blue 1), CI17200 (D&C Red 33), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative)

Directions: Add the color to your base drop-by-drop. Use the amount as desired. When you add more drops it will produce a darker color. When used in soap, you will know you have used too much color if your soap bubbles are not white. Adding this color to white soap will produce a pastel colored bar of soap. In lotions, you will know you have used too much color if your lotion is not white when rubbed into the skin.

Colour Fading: We recommend avoiding exposing products to UV light for extended periods to minimize fading in soaps and lotions. It appears that this can have limited effectiveness in cold process soap due to the high pH of the saponification process.

Colour Migration: If product design has layered colors, this dye will migrate or “bleed” between layers.

Storage: Store in an airtight, room temperature location. When stored properly, best used within 1 year from date of purchase.
